Sometimes you have to go back to your roots to find the strength you need to move forward. This lesson in attachment and trust is about being open to love and letting yourself be loved, even if it means that you're vulnerable or hurt.
If you didn't get the opportunity to acquire this lesson in attachment and trust when you were young, you might already be too terrified to view these kinds of trust issues as anything other than a threat. Your entire existence is planned so that you never have to rely on anyone. You take precautions to ensure that you are never taken by surprise or let down.
But you discover there is room for all of you in this world, including or perhaps especially the aspects you dislike. Being loved indicates that there is suddenly nowhere else to go. Nothing further needs to be done. There's nothing to fix. Nothing to get right and no one else to be but yourself.
You learn how to give yourself a break and how to receive love without being afraid of it. You can take risks, be vulnerable again without fear of being hurt, and that is all you have to do.
