Sound baths are a great way to relax, reduce stress and tension, and improve your overall health. They are also a way to gain insight into yourself and become more in tune with your inner self.
Sound is vibrations that travel through the air or water. Everything in the universe vibrates—including you! Every cell in your body vibrates at a particular frequency. Sound and vibrations travel more quickly through water than air; 70% of your body is made up of water. That's why sound baths are so effective.
During a sound bath, you lie on a mattress or yoga mat—ideally with a blanket wrapped around you and a pillow under your head if you so wish—and the sound practitioner guides you into relaxation by using gongs, singing bowls, tuning forks, drums, and healing bowls to produce various sounds and vibrations. The sounds wash through your mind and body, taking you to a deeper state of consciousness.
The vibrations release energy gained from past experiences. During a sound bath, you can experience different emotions.
