My art journey began when I arrived in Canada as an international student. Coming from a predominantly left-brain-oriented family, I felt the need to delve into the right side of my being and explore my creative potential. I enrolled in art classes, hoping to unlock my dormant artistic talent.
While studying art, I couldn't help but feel a longing for a more expressive outlet. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for cake decorations. Obsessed with cake decorating, I immersed myself in everything related to this craft. I spent hours watching YouTube tutorials, baking shows, and anything else that could fuel my creativity (i.e. designer shows like Project Runway, Blown Away). I found solace and fulfillment through cake decorations, momentarily satisfying my longing for artistic expression. However, as time went on, I felt the desire to explore other artistic avenues. I began researching fluid art and abstract techniques for months on end. Countless YouTube videos became a part of my daily routine, watched before bedtime and in every spare moment I had. After six long months of immersing myself in this research, I finally felt ready to pick up a paintbrush and start creating. I was exhilarated as I approached the canvas, unsure of what would emerge. With each stroke, I felt a sense of liberation, as if I was finally aligning with my true artistic self. The combination of my newfound knowledge from research and the freedom of fluid art allowed me to create pieces that were uniquely my own. And here I am, after five years of making art consistently, on a journey that continues to unfold with each painting and brushstroke. I have found my passion in art and am determined to nurture it and let it guide me further. My art journey may have started late, but I am grateful for every step that has led me to this point.
