Enlightenment is important today because it helps us to understand the world around us. It allows us to see things as they are rather than how we'd like them to be.
The enlightenment was a movement that took place in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries. Its goal was to encourage people to think for themselves and question authority, instead of just following along with whatever their government or religion told them to do. It was characterised by an emphasis on reason and science, as well as on individualism, democracy, and freedom. It meant that people started to question things more – like why they were poor, or why women were treated differently from men – and discuss how things could be changed for the better. Things have to change for the better right now. We are not living in a democratic world or society and the question remains why certain people enjoy unlimited wealth and freedom and the rest of us does not?
